Sega's Project K director Toshihiro Nagoshi mentioned that the game will be different from the Ryuga Gotoku [Yakuza] series, it will be targeting younger audiences including high school students, and the gameplay will be more suitable for portable system. The protagonist Tatsuya Ukyou is an 18 year old man who is said to be pure and immature, showing rebellious nature and rage ont he street. The game will also have a lot of drama and events like Ryuga Gotoku.
