Capcom delays Lost Planet 2, SSFIV

Lost Planet 2 was originall due for this holiday season, but was pushed back to Q1 2010 to avoid the competive 2009 holiday rush, led by blockbusters like Uncharted 2 and Modern Warfare 2.

Lightning has struck twice for Lost Planet 2, and the game has now been delayed back even further. Lost Planet 2, Super Street Fighter IV, and Monster Hunter 3(for the Wii), have all been pushed back for 'strategic reasons', said Capcom in their financial revisions. All 3 titles were delayed until fiscal 2010(April 2010 - March 2011) to "avoid competing with the major titles that other companies plan to introduce in the 4th quarter."

On top of that, it looks like Capcom has lowered their expectations for their upcoming shooter, Dark Void. Capcom originally expected the title to sell 1.3 million units worldwide, but has halved their projection to only 600,000 copies. Either Capcom massively overestimated demand for the game, or something ominous may be happening behind the scenes. Dark Void is due on January 19.

Capcom had a killer Q1 last year, with Resident Evil 5 and Street Fighter IV, but it looks like it will have a tough time pulling of a repeat performance this year.
