Hardware numbers will be forthcoming.

Of course, the DS takes home the crown again this week, but the PS3 continues to be the dominant home console in Japan. The PS3 had 6 titles in the top 30 software, while the Wii and 360 had 4 and 3 respectively. PES 2010(known as Winning Eleven in Japan) makes a tremendous debut, though it still comes far from matching the PS2 releases, which usually sold around 500,000 copies opening week.

Tekken 6 and Bayonetta continue to see fair sales as well, with Tekken 6 coming just short of the top 10. InFamous and 3D Dot Game Heroes were both new releases this week, and surprisingly, InFamous topped 3D Dot Game Heroes.

Hardware estimates put the PS3 at roughly 43,000 units sold on the week, ousting the Wii by another 20,000 consoles, if the preliminary numbers provided by Famitsu are correct. This will put the PS3 only a stones throw away from Wii's total year-to-date sales. Outside of Dragon Ball: Raging Blast, the PS3's line up for the next month is made up of about half a dozen relatively mid-low profile(in Japan) games, like Modern Warfare 2, Ratchet: A Crack in Time, and Assassin's Creed 2 until Final Fantasy XIII hits in mid-December. Meanwhile, the Wii has a couple of blockbuster titles, like NSMBW and Tales of Graces, but not until December.

Which console will come out on top for the year is really anyone's guess, but obviously this would be a huge milestone accomplishment for Sony if the PS3 eked out a win.
