Nothing really noteworthy happening this week on the PlayStation front this week. On the hardware side, as I mentioned last week, it seems the PS3's baseline has steadied right around 30,000 per week. On the other hand, the Wii continues to decline, despite the price cut just a few weeks ago. Right now, signs are pointing to the PS3 overtaking the Wii as the top selling home console in Japan this year, but December will be huge for both platforms.
On the software front, Uncharted 2 stuck around in the top 10, despite 4 new releases. The sequel is looking to outpace the original title within 2 or 3 weeks at this rate. Speaking of which, the original Uncharted is also still kicking around the top 30. The recent release of the sequel is likely the cause of thise. Also worth mentioning is that Call of Duty 4 continues to chart in the top 30 as well. Combined sales of the original and budget releases for both the PS3 and 360 put the titles total numbers close to 250,000, making Call of Duty 4 the most successful first person shooter in Japan in recent years.
Next week should be a big week for Sony, with both Tekken 6 and Bayonetta coming out. It will be interesting to see if Famitsu scoring the 360 version a 40/40 and the PS3 version a 38/40 will be represented in the sales.
