Crisis Core Surpasses Expectations

If there was ever any doubt about the endurance of the Final Fantasy franchise, Square just took that doubt out back and shot it.

The company has revealed that sales of Crisis Core have surpassed the 2 million mark

According to the company’s Q1 2010 financial report, the critically acclaimed handheld title has sold approximately 2.16 million units globally as of June 30, 2009. The game was first released in Japan in 2007 with a stateside release following soon after

See below to view how well the game performed in each individual territory:

• Japan - 840,000 units
• North America - 770,000 units
• Europe - 550,000 units

The game was a prequel to the much beloved (and some say greatest entry in the series) Final Fantasy 7, release on PS1 in 1997.
